Canadian rising tennis star, Denis Shapovalov has recently reached a career-high rank of 10 in late September. He looked strong to make into the ATP Finals this year.

Shapovalov, World No.12, has withdrawn from the ATP 100 Rolex Masters. He lost the opening round at ATP 500 Vienna. Thus, failing to register more points, he will now lose out on a spot in London.

Shapovalov is potentially done for 2020

While in Vienna, he said, “It would mean the world to me”, on qualifying to ATP Finals 2020. There are some vacant spots at the London Finals, but the Canadian’s chances are narrow to qualify. However, with the recent declaration, the 23-year-old cannot participate.

Other players who joined the list of withdrawals include Kei Nishikori and Alex De Minaur, they will skip the event that begins this weekend. Earlier, Nishikori withdrew before his first-round match against Dominic Thiem in Vienna. Players, Yoshihito Nishioka and Gilles Simon enter the Paris Masters event as replacements for Shapovalov and Nishikori, respectively.

Shapovalov skipping the Rolex Masters could mean his 2020 season is now over. The Canadian was phenomenal while he made the US Open 2020 quarters along with St. Petersburg and Rome semi-finals.
