NBA is just a treasure box to millions of memories. Some of them have a deep seeded past with absolute selfless ness. Dirk Nowitzki is player whose absolute loyalty for the Dallas Mavericks franchise has become an exemplary milestone. The German centre was drafted in 1997 by the team and continued over two decades with the same franchise. His hard work and dedication finally got them a ring in in 2011 defeating the ferocious Miami Heat. Now, the former player sees potential in young Luka Doncic to do the same.

The Mavs have recently been on a losing streak. After their loss to San Antonio Spurs by 2-points, they failed to get past Philadelphia 76ers today. Luka Doncic has been carrying the team single handed. After their breakout during the first phase of the league, Doncic brought them a long way. Even today, the Serbian international had 32-points in the game. He was the only player with 30+ points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. While on the other end of the court, Joel Embiid and Furkan Korkmaz had 36 and 20 points respectively. Doncic tried pulling the game but the lack of support failed all their chances.

Dirk Nowitzki sees a spark in Luka Doncic

The Mavs had been blessed with the German International Dirk Nowitzki. He has been the best signing for the franchise in their history so far. Dirk was not only loyal but dedicated to the Mavs. He recently spoke in an interview about potential of Luka to bring the championship home. He said, “Now people are like, “Dirk who? It’s all about Luka [Doncic].” No, it’s awesome… Everybody knows if the end of the game is coming, you know where the ball is going at the end. It’s fun, it’s a challenge, but it’s also some pressure. In our position — trying to chase a championship for a little while… – we wanted to give that first championship to this city; they’ve never had a basketball championship here…. So it’s super fun, it’s an honor that people would say, “Dallas Mavericks, that’s Dirk.” That is super, super special, but of course it comes with some responsibilities, some pressure.”

Dirk stayed in the Mavs in their tough times and fulfilled his promise in 2011 getting his hands on the title. While a lot many players shift clubs in quest of titles, Nowitzki stayed and got them, one. Dirk feels Doncic is of the same calibre. He can do the same magic if given opportunity.
