World No.3, Dominic Thiem won his maiden Grand Slam this year at the US Open. Currently, he also has strongly held on to his grip to win the ATP Finals in London as he clearly seems to be one of the favorites after finishing on the top of his group to advance into the semi-finals where he will face the winner of the Novak Djokovic on Saturday.

Speaking about the much spoken ATP Player Council elections for next term, the Austrian stated that he is satisfied with the way things are functioning on the ATP tour and expressed his lack of desire to join any other tennis organization as of now.

However, Thiem did not rule out the option of coming on-board in the future.

“I like what the ATP is doing. Generally, they are doing a great job. I don’t see a reason to join another association,” Thiem stated.

“At some point, I’d like to join the Player Council, but not right now. It’s just too early for me. I know myself and I know that, at times, I’m really motivated for things like this, but at other times, I’m not. You have to do a lot when you’re on the Council”, added Thiem, who wishes to be 100 percent involved in the job and not otherwise.

Alexander Zverev does not rule out joining the council in future either

Alexander Zverev

World No.7, Alexander Zverev was asked at the beginning of this year if he wished to join the ATP Player Council.

Responding to this he said that being a part of the council involves a lot of important work and currently, he would not be able to dedicate 100 percent of his attention to it. However, the German would not mind joining in the future either.

”I was asked last year/at the beginning of this year if I wanted to join. They wanted to have younger players on the council.“ Said he didn’t want to become part of the council because of some problems with his manager,” Zverev said.
