Dominic Thiem gives injury update ahead of Nitto ATP finals

This year’s US Open champion, Dominic Thiem, recently gave an update on his injury that he suffered (on his foot) in the Vienna Open quarter-finals. As a result, Thiem pulled himself out of the Paris Masters, but managed to recover in time to take part in the Nitto ATP Finals in London.

Last year, the Austrian had a ‘so close, yet so far’ moment at the season-ending event. Stefanos Tsitsipas, the defending champion this year was up against Dominic Thiem in the title clash who missed the mark of glory just by a few points.

Thiem’s run to the final included victories against Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the group stage and Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.

“After losing in the quarter-final at my home tournament in Vienna I recovered from my foot injury,” Dominic Thiem told his website.

“It took me two, three days to recover, then I started my preparation for the final in London at the O2-Arena,” he added.

Thiem leaves for London on Wednesday with a ‘mini team’ and must be hoping to get his hands on the coveted trophy of the most prestigious tournament after the Grand Slams, the Nitto ATP Finals starts on the 15th of November.
