Roger Federer is one of the most followed and loved tennis players on tour. The Swiss maestro has achieved tremendous success in his career, claiming 20 Grandslam titles and several other accolades. However, in the past year, the 39-year old was on the sidelines due to injury.

Roger Federer returned to action at the Qatar Open 2021, after a period of almost 13 months. The Swiss lost in the quarterfinals in Doha, and has not played since. He is expected to compete at the Geneva Open 2021, before going into the French Open. Dominic Thiem who has been one of the most consistent players on tour in the past three years, heaped praise on Roger Federer in his latest interview.

Dominic Thiem stated that everyone misses Roger Federer on tour, and he hopes to have the Swiss compete on a regular basis. The Austrian was also optimistic about Federer’s chances at Wimbledon this year, and believes he can have a good run this year.

“Everybody is missing him. He is a great guy. It’s amazing to have him around. He is just too good and has unreal skills. He can go very deep in Wimbledon. I am looking forward to see him again,” said Federer.

Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer have clashed against each other on seven occasions, with the Austrian leading the head to head encounter by a score-line of 5-2. Their last encounter was at the Nitto ATP Finals in 2019, where Thiem won in straight sets.
