Dutee Chand breaks women’s 100m National Record

The ongoing Indian Grand Prix 4 is seeing some of the biggest names in Indian track and field compete for a berth at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. Adding to the thrill of the much-awaited tournament, India’s fastest woman, Dutee Chand, shattered her own national record in women’s 100m event today.

The Indian Grand Prix 4 is being held at the National Institue of Sports, Patiala. Many Indian athletics stars will be featuring in the contest to book their spot in the biggest sporting stage, the Olympics.

Dutee Chand shatters her own record

Dutee Chand is India’s fastest woman. And she proved her mettle yet again as she clocked 11.17 seconds in the women’s 100m race breaking her own record of 11.22 seconds. The Rio Olympian had made the previous record at the 59th National Open Athletics Championships in 2019.

However, despite this astounding feat produced by Dutee Chand, the qualifying mark for the Tokyo Olympics is 11.15 seconds.

She will be seen competing in the womens 200m with the rising star Hima Das later in the competition. The qualifying mark for womens 200m for Tokyo Olympics is 22.80 seconds.
