East Bengal Club donates ₹30 Lakhs to CM’s Relief Fund

The Red and Gold’s of Calcutta, ‘The East Bengal Football Club’ has said that they will be donating ₹30 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s relief fund and will also additionally be providing food for the groundsmen who work in Kolkata’s maiden grounds, in an attempt to combat the ongoing Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic.

Talking to some reporters, East Bengal’s Senior official Debabrata Sarkar has announced that, ‘next week the club would donate at least Rs 30 lakhs to the West Bengal Chief Minister’s fund to combat COVID-19.’

East Bengal has also announced that they will be taking care of the ground staff at the Maidaan area. These are the people who worked at the various clubs in that area, probably taking care of the playing fields and canteens.

As of now, when the clubs have shut down their doors due to the ongoing pandemic, their normal livelihoods have come under risk. However, arch-rivals Mohon Bagan has also donated a good 20 Lakh’s amount for the cause earlier.

Until now, there are 17 cases of The Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 in Bengal, compared to a total of 987 in the whole country.
