Rather it turned out to be a comfortable 2-0 win for Dortmund. Timo Werner whose transfer to Chelsea was announced, did not perform well today. Dortmund who were stunned by Mainz last week came out and gave a spirited performance.

Dortmund’s first half domination was rewarded when Haaland converted past Gulacsi in the 30th minute. Gulacsi was the best player on the pitch for Leipzig as he denied Haaland twice in quick succession. Sancho, Reyna, and Hazard all had their shots turned away from goal by Gulacsi who saved Leipzig from going down by 3-0,4-0.

Dortmund’s Morey who made his debut failed to score after being sent through on goal, early in the second half. Haaland was denied his second by Gulacsi’ s legs and crossbar as another chance went begging for Dortmund. Leipzig rallied to get a goal back but could not make anything count. Haaland eventually got his second in the stoppage time. The Norwegian put the icing on the cake as he scored from close range.
