Cyberpunk 2077 could be reviving itself following hitting the 1 million mark every day for the past week

“Each day of this week Night City has been visited by 1 million players, both new and returning,” reads a message published on Cyberpunk 2077’s official Twitter account on Wednesday. “We wanted to use this opportunity to thank you for being with us and playing the game,” it added.

On September 21st, Cyberpunk 2077 reached 86,130 concurrent players on Steam, the highest total since January 2021, the month after the game’s release. The recent surge in player numbers follows the release of the 1.6 patch for the game, which added a variety of new features and improvements, coinciding with a half-price discount on Steam.

The long-awaited RPG was released for PC and consoles after its 3rd delay and many technical issues. As a result, refunds were issued and the game was removed from the PlayStation Store. Six months after designing patches to improve the game, CD Projekt believed Cyberpunk 2077’s performance has reached a “satisfactory” level when it returned to Sony’s online marketplace in June 2021.

The revelation that over a million people visited Night City every day this week comes off the back of Cyberpunk, which is registering some impressive new numbers on Steam. It’s back in the top 10 most-played games on Steam, with the highest number of players on the platform since January 2021.

The milestone of one million visitors per day is helped by the fact that Cyberpunk was offered at half price last weekend. Some of these players may have no idea about the game’s early issues. The problem was so serious that Sony removed the game from its PS store for six months. CDPR has achieved what was once thought impossible by bringing cyberpunk to where it is today.
