Dr Disrespect is under quite a lot of heat over NFTs misses the point with Project Moon

Dr Disrespect states he feels no pressure following game studio launch

Dr Disrespect revealed in March that his upcoming Midnight Society game ‘Project Moon’ would have NFT features, which was met with venom from critics who didn’t comprehend what was going on. However, the Doc is delivering an NFT option that will benefit players, and they don’t even have to opt into it.

Over the last year, NFTs have become a contentious topic. Believers and critics alike have followed their rise in the internet world from a small community to things worth millions of dollars, sparking heated debate on both sides.

The gaming community is one group that has consistently been anti-NFT. They’ve begged NFTs to stay from out gaming, claiming that blockchain games are nothing more than a bursting bubble.

They got what they wanted for the most part. Game makers have launched NFT announcements and then rapidly backtracked after receiving negative feedback, reducing their Web3 plans.

But not Dr Disrespect. He announced the use of NFTs in his games and, despite the outcry, spoke out about how Project Moon will integrate NFTs whether they understand it or not – has left detractors with little to complain about.

It’s also the first blunder made by many critics. They instantly believe that if they see the term ‘NFT,’ they’ll have to buy NFTs and spend a lot of money to play or participate with the game properly, which is a reasonable complaint of many blockchain-based videogames.

The NFTs can be obtained in the form of luxuries such as visors or Variant avatars. The Founders Pass, however, is the most notable, as it is the only one stated that will cost money at the time of writing.

The Founders Pass would cost $50 and will be limited to 10,000 copies. It will come with a long list of benefits, including early access, exclusive cosmetics, and voting privileges on game features, thus placing the game’s direction in the hands of the players.

While it’s simple for sceptics to brush aside the data, the reality is that the ordinary player won’t have to worry about NFTs at all. Dr Disrespect’s Midnight Society is still in its early stages, but it appears to be the ideal approach to introduce gamers to the possibility of blockchain gaming while pressuring them to do so.
