Demon1 wins Esports Breakthrough Player of the Year Award
Demon1, being dubbed as Valorant’s new villain, took home the award for Esports Breakthrough Player of the Year Award. Fans clearly thought that he was the most deserving of the award. The star plays for Evil Geniuses, and carried his team through VCT 2023 to win them the world championship in an incredible underdog story.
The team was not the favourite to win the tournament by any means. However, their persistence landed them in the finals against Paper Rex, which they won with a comfortable 3-1 victory. Demon1 was named MVP of the entire tournament for his stellar performance throughout. His team placed second in the VCT Tokyo Masters and won 6 Valorant tournaments last year.
The pro was once a player of Unreal Tournament 4 and had a smooth transition to the world of Valorant. Esports Breakthrough Player of the Year is not the only award the Evil Geniuses team won this year. Potter, the coach of the World champion team, also won an award for Coach of the Year.
