The repercussions of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine warfare has found its way into the eSports scenario as Tencent, the publisher of the popular battle-royale title has decided to postpone the PUBG Mobile Pro League CIS 2022 for an indefinite period of time.

PUBG Mobile Esports 2022 had kicked off with the Pro League tournaments in different countries. The spring season of PMPL 2022 began with tournaments in Arabia and CIS with increased amount of prize pools, as announced by Tencent on revealing the PUBG Mobile Esports roadmap for the current year. The tournament went smoothly until now but has unfortunately been postponed due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

PMPL CIS 2022 began with 20 teams participating from the countries of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States). Following the previous format, PMPL CIS 2022 was scheduled to be played in League and Final stage. The league stage commenced from February 14 and was scheduled to conclude on March 5th.

However, the recent events occurring in Russia-Ukraine, which fall under the CIS region has sent shockwaves across the entire world and the eSports sector, too stands affected. The official Instagram handle of PUBG Mobile Esports Russia announced that PMPL CIS 2022 stands postponed as of now.

"Dear players and audience PUBG Mobile, in connection with today's events, the League administration decided to postpone the matches of the current week of spring split PMPL CIS 2022. We will follow the development of the situation and share more."

Even though the official post has not mentioned the reason for the postponement. It is quite clear that “today’s events” refers to the ongoing warfare between Russia-Ukraine. The authorities have mentioned that further announcements will be made once the situation comes under the control.

PMPL CIS 2022 featured a prize pool of $150,000 and currently, Virtus.Pro stands at the top of the leaderboard with 104 points and 62 kills after the conclusion of Week 2 Day 2. It is currently unknown when the tournament will resume, therefore, fans should wait for further announcements.
