PUBG New State will now be known as New State Mobile

In a surprising move, Krafton has dropped the word PUBG or Player’s Unknown Battlegrounds from its latest battle-royale, PUBG New State. The game will now be known as New State Mobile focusing more on the Mobile version of the futuristic game.

PUBG New State is the South Korean gaming company’s latest venture that many players are referring to as PUBG 2.0. One of the primary reason of labelling PUBG New State as PUBG 2.0 is due to the futuristic and modern aspects of the game that has completely changed the appearance of the battlegrounds. With its release on November 2021, the game has amassed tremendous popularity.

Krafton drops the word PUBG from PUBG New State

Players who actively follow the social media handles of PUBG New State might have noticed something amiss. This isn’t a minor change as all the social media handles have now changed their name to New State Mobile. Krafton also confirmed on their Twitter handle that PUBG New State will now be known as New State Mobile. The following announcement was made-

"NEW STATE has always been a mobile-focused experience, and through the transformation to NEW STATE MOBILE, we are bringing this to the core. We always appreciate your support, and please look out for upcoming content updates later this year."

Many players had been speculating that the change has been made as Krafton wishes to focus on developing a better mobile version of the game instead of launching a PC version for the modern battleground. The change might also have been made as Krafton wishes to separate itself from PUBG studios as Brendan Greene, the brain behind PUBG announced his exit.

The PC version of PUBG had also changed its name to PUBG Battlegrounds, although, no official announcement was made. The game recently went free to play and also recorded a huge player growth since its F2P transition. Is Krafton also planning something major for PUBG New State by changing its name? This question remains unknown.

New State Mobile was previously added only in the social media handles. However, Krafton changed the named in their official website as well. Krafton had also announced their first open for all tournament for PUBG New State , now known as New State Mobile which was limited to South Korean region only. Players are further eager to see what lies ahead for the modern battle-royale.
