Sony recently unveiled PlayStation Project Leonardo an accessibility controller which will make gaming easier and more comfortable for players with disabilities. Sony revealed this accessibility controller project Leonardo on 4 January at CES presentation. The sole purpose of this project is to break down all the barriers in gaming.

One of the significant challenges the gaming community faced was that there was no specific or easy-to-use controller for those who may not be able to use a standard handheld controller for any reason. Sony took this into consideration and

This controller is the first step towards removing all the barriers to gaming regarding players with disabilities. They aim to offer joy if gaming with PlayStation to everyone. Here are all the main features of this controller.

This accessibility controller is totally customizable. Players will be able to all the games on this from God of War Ragnarök to The Last of Us Part 1. This controller is designed to help players who are specially abled to play comfortably for a longer period of time. To make this project successful Sony has teamed up with Able gamers, SpecialEffect and Stack up.

This controller consists of a robust kit of swappable components which include analogue stick caps and simple buttons of different shapes and sizes. These components could be used in any way the players feel comfortable and the analoge stick’s placement as well as the distance from the controller is customizable. That means players have total control over how they want their controller to be.

The key binds can be changed can their specific setting can be stored in separate profiles. This controller also has a feature to pair up with another project Leonardo or the DualSense controller or all three. Besides this the controller has four 3.5mm AUX ports which can be used to connect external accessibility accessories. Sony claims “The controller lies flat and does not need to be held. So players can lay it on a tabletop or a wheelchair tray. It can be easily secured to AMPS mounts* or tripods and can be oriented 360 degrees for the most comfortable use” which makes it much more comfortable to use.

The PlayStation project Leonardo is currently under development and Sony is working towards making more changes and collecting valuable feedback.
