Valkyrae apologizes for using AAVE phrases

One of the most popular female streamers ruling the industry, Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter on her recent livestream issued an apology to the concerned viewers after it was brought to her attention that she had been using AAVE language.

TwitchCon 2022 which took place in San Diego recently was quite ironical, as Valkyrae who is a YouTuber became the largest crowd puller at the event. It was, however, not surprising as she is a globally popular streamer, even watched by popular celebrities and sportspersons.

Valkyrae vows on avoiding AAVE language on her stream from now

Featuring in the Times Square Billboard in New York, and buying a Lamborghini which is her dream car, YouTuber Rachell Hofstetter has been on her top game lately. She also hosted a livestream with Fuslie and her other friends after she came back from TwitchCon but on her last livestream, fans found her addressing a serious issue.

As she decided on playing Valorant with fellow content creators such as Yvonnie, she started the broadcast by addressing an issue which was informed to her by her channel moderators and some of her viewers. At the 8-minute mark of her livestream, the streaming star claimed-

"After last stream, it was brought to my attention", she took a moment before beginning further, ''sorry I should have had this prepared but I did not". A couple of minutes later she highlighted the word 'AAVE' which is the acronym for African American Vernacular English.

She stated that AAVE words should apparently be not used by non-black people and she had unknowingly used such a phrase during her last livestream. Explaining the situation, she was quoted saying-

I’ve heard my friends say. I thought it was cute, and that it rhymes and stuff but it was brought to my attention by my mods actually, yeah, I just want to clear that now I know.”

Valkyrae revealed that her mob had sent her a ‘lovely’ document on the issue. She therefore became aware of the fact that she should not be using these kind of phrases. Issuing an apology, she stated-

"I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I really didn't intend to. But now I know! I had no idea!"

As her chat was asking her to inform them about the phrase she is talking about, she refrained from saying it and also expressed that she believes it is just a misconception brought by Generation Z. Even though she thinks it is myth, she vowed not to use AAVE phrases again.

Most of the fans wanted to know which phrase was said by her that led her issuing an apology but others claimed that it is not really a big issue that everyone is making a fuss about. Nevertheless, viewers were glad to see a high profile streamer of being concerned about her viewer’s linguistics and sentiments.
