Top 10 most picked agents in Valorant Champions 2023

Top 10 most picked agents in Valorant Champions 2023

The Valorant Champions Tour 2023 is officially over with Champions 2023 ending. Evil Geniuses truly evolved into North America’s last hope and won it all in their home country. The tournament witnessed some true Valorant masterclasses with 84 Maps played over 34 matches. Some teams stuck to the meta while others innovated, picking unusual comps and making their opponents adapt.

Every Agent except one was picked at least once. While some agents had a 100% pick rate in some maps, others were picked sparingly. The pick rates were mostly dominated by the meta with some agents providing immense value over all the maps equally. Teams like Fnatic mostly stuck to the agents they had picked all through the year while teams like NAVI changed Comps in every single match they played.

It did not see any play on Split, Ascent, or Haven as those maps are dominated by its contemporaries Omen and Astra. However, He was a must-pick on Fracture and Bind where he had pick rates of 80% and 87% respectively. The OG controller also saw some play in Pearl where he was constantly picked by FUT esports.

8. Sova

The next agent on the list is the scan Initiator Sova. The Russian hunter had been the constant meta in Ascent and Valorant Champions 2023 continuing the trend where it was picked 77% of the time on the map. With Evil Geniuses’ previous innovations with Sova on Fracture in Masters Tokyo, Other teams also picked the agent on the Map. He had a pick rate of 40% on the map and 50% on Haven where teams Combined it with Breach. He had an Overall pick rate of 26% even though he did not get any map time on Split and Bind.

7. Astra

Astra had an overall pick rate of 30% throughout all of Valorant Champions 2023. She was picked on every map with Split being the map where she was picked the most (60%). After the B long Changes in Pearl, her pick rate on the map drastically increased where she was picked 58% of the time. Her Gravity well ability was particularly useful for delaying spike defuse and anchor sites while her ultimate ability cosmic divide enabled or denied flood retakes which made her a viable option in maps such as Lotus and Haven.

6. Omen

Omen saw a lot of play in Valorant Champions 2023 and had a considerably higher pick rate of 42%. He was used on all the maps and had a minimum 10% pick rate on every map. He dominated the comps in maps like Ascent and Lotus where he was picked 88% and 70% times respectively. His recurring smokes and paranoia were very useful in site execs which is why he was also picked in Haven(50%) and Split(40%) quite a lot. He was the choice of many who were not completely comfortable with Astra or used him as a secondary entry agent using his shrouded steps.

5. Jett

Jett has always been one of the most popular choices for duelist agents in the Game. Valorant Champions 2023 was no different where she had a pick rate of 52%. She was the meta choice on three maps, Pearl, Ascent and Heaven. She is also the first agent on the list to have a 100% pick rate on any single map( Pearl). Her operating skills and ability to escape from tight situations made her so valuable on those maps. This Korean agent was also coupled with Raze on maps like Split where teams liked to run a double duelist Comp.

4. Viper

Viper was the controller agent of choice in Valorant Champions 2023 with a pick rate of 55%. Not only Champions 2023 but the Whole VCT season saw the rise of the double controller Meta where Viper was a must-pick along with Harbor or Omen. She was heavily favoured on Bind, Lotus and Split where her wall and utility proved very valuable in anchoring sites. Many teams even picked her on maps like Ascent where she was not the Meta. The team also liked to make a play around her ultimate ability and proved clutch in swing rounds.

3. Raze

Suprising everyone in the Community Raze bested Jett in the Duelist Category at Valorant Champions 2023. She had an overall pick rate of 55% even after not being picked on Pearl once. She was meta on four out of the seven maps, Split(97%), Lotus(100%), Bind(93%) and Fracture(70%). Even though she was not great at holding angles with an Operator, her entry capabilities alone made her the Duelist of choice. Her util Kit seemed to favour fast attacks and retakes which made the teams pick her instead of Jett.

2. Skye

Skye became the most picked initiator during the Valorant Champions 20223. She had an Overall pick rate of 56% and was heavily favoured over any other Initiator throughout the Tournament. The double controller Meta in the tournament meant that there was no space for double Initiators. Skye’s utility provided players with much-needed versatility, as she could scan and flash for the team. Her Guiding Light ability was great for both information and heavy executes. She provided the perfect balance the teams needed in the matches.

1. Killjoy

The No.1 most-picked agent in Valorant Champions 2023 is Killjoy with a pick Rate of 63%. KillJoy is the only Sentinel in the top 10 picked agents and rightfully so. Her utility was used in a variety of ways not only for defence but also for attack. Also, she was great at holding Flanks and mitigating any chances of a surprise attack. Apart from this, her ultimate ability Lockdown meant a secured round on the attacker side while being used as a retake tool on defence. The only map she did not play in was Bind where Chamber and Cypher were preferred. But on every other map, she was overwhelmingly favoured which goes to show he value.

The list exhibited the controller-dominated meta with 4 of the 10 agents being controllers. Some Analysts thought that newer Agents like Harbor and Gekko would be played more but the teams thought otherwise. Deadlock was the only Agent that did see any play of sorts. Sage was also off-meta and was played once throughout the Tournament. With the end of the season and a new Act Patch incoming, the meta is bound to shift and the teams will come up with more unique compositions to Play with.
