Sterling in action

Threatened with his pace and drifting runs through the Danish defence throughout the game. Terrified with his neat skills and dribbles and had a part to play in both the goals. Forced Kjaer in making a last ditch slide which ended up in the net, and drew the foul for penalty for the second goal. Completed 10 dribbles in the match.

Harry Kane – 7.5/10

Saka

Played a good part as long as he was on the pitch. Made runs down the right flank and his pace was a problem for Maehle. Incredible run behind the defence and a great ball at the far post which was eventually turned in by Kjaer for a own goal.

Schmeichel saves

Kept his team in the game with some deft saves and stood out firm. Blocked Sterling’s shot early on and made a some good saves from Kane and Maguire. Saved the penalty initially by diving the right way but would be devastated as to not move the ball away to a safe position as Kane converted in the rebound.

Simone Kjaer – 6.5/10

Kjaer unfortunately let’s in the own goal

Defended valiantly against a strong England forward line and a leader at the back. Unfortunate to let in the own goal while making a last ditch challenge to see out a dangerous ball at the far post.

Damsgaard scores

Scored a peach of goal with a beautifully taken free kick to given Denmark the lead. The ball had enough swerve and dip to beat Pickford to get in the top corner. First free kick goal of the tournament. Looked decent in rest of the game.
