Formula 1 is widely known as one of the most glamorous sports in the world. The F1 drivers and teams enjoy a lavish lifestyle apart from their on-track racing. However, with great money comes great responsibility, as many times people involved in the sport fail to remain completely true to themselves. In a shocking turn of events, former F1 driver Adrian Sutil has been arrested for fraud and embezzlement.

Many people have been caught in the history of Formula 1 for multiple financial crimes. One of the most famous cases was that of ex-F1 Supremo Bernie Eccelstone, who was convicted of major tax fraud and found guilty of the crime. Now, it is Adrian Sutil who has been found guilty of multiple charges and is being arrested because of an alleged ‘international raid’.

The German publication BILD has revealed the news of Adrian Sutil’s imprisonment due to fraud and embezzlement. Though the exact details behind the matter have yet to come to light. However, it is worth noting that this isn’t the first time that Sutil has been involved in criminal matters. His F1 career had a lot of bumps along the way because of his legal matters back then as well.

Adrian Sutil raced in the pinnacle of motorsport from 2007 to 2014 and was a part of multiple teams. His most famous criminal matter happened back in 2011 when he physically assaulted Lotus team executive, Eric Lux.

Despite his antics, he had a respectable career in the sport and came close to achieving a podium finish on multiple occasions. He notably raced for Spyker, Force India, and ultimately Sauber before exiting the sport completely.

For now, no other information other than his arrest in the international raid has come to light. Many people will definitely be shocked by this matter, as it is never good to be involved in criminal matters after being such a prominent figure in Formula 1.

Moreover, neither Adrian Sutil’s lawyer has commented on the matter, keeping everything behind the curtains. Sutil was taken to the Stuttgart District Court, and his arrest warrant was executed from the same place.

For now, he is being held at the Baden-Württemberg prison, and his release date isn’t revealed to the public. As such, the German is likely to spend a lot of time behind bars or atleast until his case his won by the lawyers.

It is certainly not a good look for either Formula 1 or Adrian Sutil to be involved in such matters. The community of the pinnacle of motorsport hopes that this issue is resolved quickly and the criminals are brought to justice. Sutil remains one of the more controversial people who have been a part of the pinnacle of motorsport at one point in time.
