Sergio Perez was unhappy with the set-up his RB-18 got for the FP2 session of the British Grand Prix. Red Bull opted not to set a lap time in FP1 after the session was showered with rain, the team decided to come out of the garage in FP2 and managed a P4 and P8 with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez respectively.

But the Red Bull didn’t show the red hot form it has been racing within the last 7 races with. The major reason according to the driver was the aerodynamics issues with the car not matching the simulator.

“It wasn’t a great session today, from our preparation that we have in the simulator the car is miles off,” Perez said.

“We do [have an idea], I think there are some suspicions on the aerodynamics side but obviously I cannot go too much into detail,” he added.

Sergio mentioned the problems being in the aero of the car and he along with the team knows where the exact issue is, but things are very very difficult to get things right before the qualifications tomorrow. On the other hand, Ferrari had a great session being the fastest in all the sectors and managing P1 in FP2, along with Mercedes showing a noticeable difference in the final positions.

“Ferrari looked strong but nothing too special so I hope we’re able to match them tomorrow come quali.” said Perez.

“You need the confidence around these fast corners, so as long as I’m able to get back my confidence, I think it should be alright.” the Mexcian concluded.
