The internet was taken by storm yesterday by frenzied Formula 1 fans as a shocking interview was unearthed from last year’s British Grand Prix in Silverstone. In the interview, three-time World Champion Nelson Piquet Sr has allegedly used racial slurs while addressing Lewis Hamilton when he was discussing the Silverstone collision between the Mercedes racer and his then-Championship rival Max Verstappen.

While Formula 1 is striving to become inclusive, Nelson Piquet’s comments on Lewis Hamilton, the only Black racer to have gotten the super license to drive in Formula 1, has scarred all the motorsports enthusiasts who used to hold Piquet with high regards. As a Brazilian racer, Piquet has been widely celebrated as one of the most skilled racers in F1, but his recently unearthed interview has made him infamous. Now, many of the F1 fans as well as journalists and other people associated with the sport are calling for immediate intervention by the FIA to ban Piquet from ever entering the paddocks again.

In the middle of all this, Daniel Ricciardo has given his statement regarding this matter on his Instagram page.
