Lance Stroll accomplished his first points finish in the 2022 Emilia Romagna GP. The Canadian finished his highest position finish in the current season with a P10 in Imola. Along with his teammate Sebastian Vettel, who finished P4, the duo opened the books by securing first points for Aston Martin.

Ahead of the weekend, Aston Martin was the only team that failed to score points in the season so far. The Aston Martin AMR22 has struggled in every race so far and has slipped from a midfield team to a backmarker. Even questions were raced in the driver lineup of Vettel and Stroll.

But with the two drivers scoring points this weekend, Lance Stroll says it’s a “positive result” for the team who have had a torrid start to the season so far calling it a “well-earned point”.

"I think it was a well-earned point," Lance Stroll celebrates Aston Martin's first points of the season after 'very intense' Imola GP 2

Aston Martin enjoyed a good race in Imola. Sebastian Vettel took the car to Q3 for the first time in the Friday Qualifying session. Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel finished the Sprint races P15 and P13 and claimed points in the main race. Ahead of the race, Lance Stroll struggled to finish higher than P12 which he achieved in the Bahrain GP. Stroll reflected on the points claimed by the team.

Stroll said, “I think it was a well-earned point. We had pressure from behind the whole race and it was very intense and tight from start to finish with the rain and everything so really happy. Both cars in the points, I think it is a really positive result for the team.”

Sebastian Vette too celebrated the points by equating it to a win stating, “It was like a victory. Aston Martin was the only team apart from Red Bull where both drivers finished in the top 10. The team hope to continue their streak to the inaugural Miami GP which takes place from May 6-8.
