When Charles Leclerc signed with Scuderia Ferrari for the 2019 Formula 1 season, he got the seat of 2007 F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen as the Finn shifted to Alfa Romeo. With that, began his great adventure with the Maranello outfit as the Monegasque got many firsts in his Formula 1 career with the help of Ferrari. In his debut race as a Scuderia driver, Charles got a P5 finish and in the very next race, he got pole position for the first time in his career. Now that he has spent 4 years in the oldest and most successful F1 racing team in history, Charles Leclerc has expressed that he is grateful to be their recruit and feels like it is a dream come true for him.

But Ferrari’s recent records in the F1 races have not been too encouraging despite having a fast car–the F1-75–and a brilliant pairing of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. In the Hungarian Grand Prix that was held last weekend, Charles suffered a major blow to his Championship hopes as he lost out on a guaranteed podium finish because of tactical errors committed by his team. Through all this, Leclerc has always maintained that he is grateful for his place in Ferrari, and thus, in his most recent interview, he talked about how “it is incredible” that he has now realised his dream of becoming a Scuderia racer.

Almost every Formula 1 racer started off their racing career at a very young age, usually by participating in various karting competitions. Keeping up with the tradition, Leclerc drove at his first karting race in 205, and he later went on to achieve victory in the French PACA Championship in 2005, ’06 and ’08. Many followers recognised the rising talent at that time, and then, Charles went on to race in Formula 3 and subsequently in Formula 2 as well.

Charles entered Formula 1 as a Sauber driver after attaining F2 World Championship victory in 2017. After working his way up, he got a contract from Ferrari to join their team in 2019. When Charles Leclerc received his first F1 Grand Prix victor in Belgium at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, he was hailed for his superior driving skills and great temperament throughout the race. And in Charles Leclerc’s own words, all of it feels like a dream come true for him as he had always wanted to drive for Ferrari and win races for the team.

While describing what it meant to race for the Scuderia and target a Championship title for them, he said, “It‘s incredible. It‘s a dream come true. I am born in Monaco, I always watched the races and followed the red car, and I don‘t know exactly why.”
