“It’s really tough for him”: Jenson Button comments on Lewis Hamilton’s poor result in Miami

In the current F1 2022 season, Lewis Hamilton has had a nightmare of a time, trying to inch closer to the top, where he has resigned all through the turbo-hybrid era of Formula 1. Now that the FIA have announced the rule changes that have caused a huge upheaval in the way F1 race cars were manufactured before, all the teams have had to abide by the new regulations to make a car for this season.

While Mercedes had arguably the best car amongst all other teams in the previous seasons during the turbo-hybrid times, they have faced a lot of problems while trying to formulate the perfect car for this season. And as a result, their W13 lacks pace, has issues with porpoising, and is simply not being able to keep up with more powerful cars of Mercedes’ title rivals, like the RB-18 of Red Bull and SF-75 of Ferrari.

And of course, the race car plays a huge role in increasing a driver’s chances of winning a Championship title. No matter how experienced and naturally talented the racer is, he needs a good car to accompany him during the Main Race. And that is exactly what 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton is lacking as of now. And former World Champion Jenson Button just commented on how Hamilton is struggling behind the wheels of the W13 as his chances to getting to the top of the WDC standings is getting weaker by the day.

No matter how upsetting his performance has been in this season of Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton is undoubtedly one of the most experienced and skilled racers in the history of the sport. And former World Champion Jenson Button respects the hard work and efforts that Hamilton put forth for the race in Miami as he wanted to improve his position in the Championship table.

According to Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton had showed enough pace throughout the weekend, and he even surpassed his teammate George Russell during the Qualifying in Miami. But in the main race, Hamilton fell prey to some strategy errors, which cost him some precious Championship points.

Commenting on Lewis Hamilton’s performance in the first-ever Miami Grand Prix, Jenson Button said in a recent interview with Sky Sports, “He says that he hasn’t been lucky with strategy, to be fair everyone was on the same strategy as him – except for his teammate. You’re under pressure and the team is saying, ‘oh you’ll lose places’. It’s really tough for him because he’s had good pace this weekend.
