Read to find out the drivers who can bag a podium at the Spanish GP 2022

Spanish GP 2022

The circus on wheels has reached Spain and is all set to host the Spanish GP. The Grand Prix will be held at one of the oldest and the legendary Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The circuit in the year 2013 celebrated its hundredth anniversary as it continues to be a well contested track even after a century of races. After a Miami GP, which was all glitz and glamor, we shift our attention to the more traditional Spanish GP.

We saw many a drivers make an impact during the Miami and here are the 3 of the lot who could spring up with surprise podium at the Spanish Grand Prix.

George Russell

George Russell

Many of you might have been surprised to see George Russell’s name in this list but it will be definitely be surprising to see him beat the Red Bulls and the Ferrari keeping in mind the problems that Mercedes is facing with porpoising. These problems have not made it possible for him to compete for the podium places and has to rely on a mistake from Red Bull and Ferrari to finish in the podium places, as we saw at the Australian GP. But, what we can’t take away is his ability to get the best out of that car and if we add a little bit luck to it, he can be a contender for those coveted podium places.

Valtteri Bottas

It’s has proved to be a decision and a half by Valtteri Bottas to leave Mercedes at the end of last year after seeing their struggles this year around. The Finn decided to join Alfa Romeo as he didn’t want to play second fiddle to the seven time world champion, Lewis Hamilton. Bottas already has 30 points to his name and has looked impressive in the Ferrari powered Alfa Romeo. He was really close to securing P5 in Miami but a mistake costed him dearly. A good qualifying session in Spain can see him competing for a podium place.

Esteban Ocon

Alpine has really impressed one and all and Esteban Ocon has taken full advantage of that car. It was an unfortunate start to the weekend for the Frenchman as he crashed in FP3 which ruled him out of qualifying and meant that he had to start from the back of the grid. But that didn’t bog him down as he came from behind to finish P8. If Esteban Ocon can set a decent time in qualifying then he has every chance as we have seen that Alpine in certain circuits even has the pace to compete with the likes of Ferrari and Red Bull.

Spanish GP can be full of surprises with a lot of teams trying to move up in the midfield battle which takes a new turn on every weekend. But among the other drivers, keep an eye on these to bag a surprise podium.
