It wasn’t a brilliant start to the season but Christian Horner and Red Bull have worked extremely hard to steer themselves clear from the rest of the pack. The Milton Keynes outfit had suffered two DNFs in the first three races of the season but have made a roaring comeback in the last few races, with both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez firing on all cylinders.

Not a lot of teams have the mentality of Red Bull to bounce back from a hit like that and Mercedes definitely doesn’t seem to be that this year around. Known for their engineering prowess, the German manufacturer has not been able to deal with their porpoising issues and were seen seeking help from the FIA to intervene. The more surprising part of all this was that the FIA did intervene despite all the protests.

Toto Wolff was definitely not happy with the protest from the rival bosses and called their behavior as ‘pitiful’ and ‘disingenuous’. On the other hand, teams like Alpine, Ferrari and Red Bull have made their opinions crystal clear and feel it’s extremely unfair to allow teams to run a secondary floor when they can’t get their house in order. Christian Horner even said that issuing the technical directive was illegal.

Red Bull’s team Principal felt that the meeting became more dramatic due to the presence of Netflix. Horner said, “I think there was an element of theatre going on in that meeting. So you know, maybe with Lewis’s new movie coming along, [they’re] getting him enrolled for it.”

“I think what was particularly disappointing was the second stay, because it has to be discussed in a technical forum.”

“That is overtly biased to sorting one team’s problems out, which was the only team that turned up here with it even in advance of the TD. So work that one out,” quoted motorsport.

The row over porpoising is definitely has caught a lot of momentum and the FIA needs to take certain difficult decisions which doesn’t make the other teams feel that the governing body is favoring Mercedes.
