The F1 sphere has been engaged in the sacking of Daniel Ricciardo from RB. The Aussie is an eight-time Grand Prix winner and one of those victories came in the papaya outfit at McLaren. Subsequently, after this announcement, Zak Brown drove the 34-year-old’s race-winning MCL35B around Silverstone on a test day with his team, spooling up reactions from netizens.
After the race in Singapore, Daniel Ricciardo knew that it would be his last race in F1 after his underwhelming run of performances. On the other hand, the 35-year-old had driven for multiple teams in his elusive career and spent two years driving for McLaren. With the English team, the Aussie won a single race around an eventful race in Monza and etched his name in McLaren’s history.
On the contrary, after the news of him being fired by RB was announced, Zak Brown revealed that he had taken Ricciardo’s MCL35B for a run around the legendary Silverstone circuit.
The American was a driver back in the day and was happy with getting the opportunity to drive a few laps around in an F1 car. While his test might have been scheduled earlier, fans speculated that it might be intentional and reckoned that the papaya team was remembering Ricciardo’s stint at McLaren with this gesture.
McLaren expected to bring more upgrades in upcoming rounds
Apart from this, the Woking-based squad currently leads the constructor’s championship in F1. McLaren has a 41-point advantage over the Milton-Keynes-based Red Bull and is eager to extend it further.
The Austrian giant would reportedly bring a huge haul of upgrades at the next race in Austin. This could toughen McLaren’s chances in the next few races.
This intrigued the team to take proactive measures to maintain its performance. Subsequently, team principal Andrea Stella revealed that the English team would not wait for Red Bull to overtake them in pace and claimed that the team would bring upgrades in the upcoming race weekends, but did not specify at which race.
On the other hand, the fight for the driver’s championship has been tightening up. Lando Norris would have to monumentally outscore Max Verstappen, to topple his lead. Thus, a close battle might be readying up for the final race in Abu Dhabi.
