Spain and Germany drew their match when they last met and this Spain didn’t allow any formalities

It likely seems that Ferran Torres’s move to Manchester City has gone under the radar. Liverpool’s Diogo Jota keeps getting praise for the goals he keeps scoring day in and day out. Ferran Torres has done the same and hasn’t got the same appreciation. He might just be the most underrated transfer of the season. €32 million seems less for him and he could be the bargain of the season along with Diogo Jota.

Manuel Neuer concedes six for the first time

Manuel Neuer had never before conceded 6 goals. He had conceded five goals against Eintracht Frankfurt when Niko Kovac was managing them. Now Joachim Loew is the manager in Germany, so you can connect the dots. This was the first time Neuer had conceded 6 goals for either club or country. You can imagine how demoralizing it will be for him. He wasn’t helped by the German defense either. Niklas Sule was their best defender but he wasn’t fully fit to play the match, and yet Low played him. It wasn’t a surprise that the former left the match at half time and was replaced.

Philip Max was the left back and he was ravaged by Alvaro Morata and Ferran Torres. Timo Werner had to track back to bail him out sometimes. Robin Koch and Matthias Ginter weren’t good too and so was Jonathan Tah. Bayern had Ilkay Gundogan shielding the defense and he wasn’t of much use. Toni Kroos and Gundogan offered Germany no pace at all and their passing was abysmal. The only good midfielder for them was Leon Goretzka and he didn’t get the ball for most of the time.

The front three of Timo Werner, Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry defended more than they attacked. Ferran Torres and Alvaro Morata tormented the German team throughout the match. The latter, the former and Rodri scored in the first half to give Spain a 3-0 lead. It was expected that Germany will bounce back, but Spain continued their domination. Torres got his hat-trick as he scored two more goals in the second half. Later Mikel Oyarzabal got a goal after coming in as a substitute.

This result means that Spain qualifies for the Nations League Finals despite needing a win while all Germany had to do was draw.
