The FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in November has been postponed due to COVID-19 epidemic. This tournament was to be played in India from 2 to 21 November this year. FIFA said that new dates will be announced later.
The decision to postpone the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup was taken by the FIFA-Confederations Working Group, which was recently set up by the FIFA Council Bureau in the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic.
FIFA’s working group decided to postpone the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup Panama / Costa Rica 2020, to be held in August / September 2020. In addition, they also postponed the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in India this year in November.
“There are many months left in the tournament. But due to the global health crisis, only a few qualifying events have been held,” said in a official statement.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup was to be held from November 2 to 21 in the country’s five cities Kolkata, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad and Navi Mumbai.
The tournament was to be contested between 16 teams, in which the Indian team had already qualified as the host. The Under-17 Women’s World Cup was to be held for the first time in India.
So far, there have been more than 57,000 deaths and more than 10,00,000 in the world due to the deadly corona virus. And around 2,28,000 people have been recovered.
