Filip Krajinovic praises fellow Serbian Novak Djokovic, calls him a ‘National Hero’

World No.1, Novak Djokovic is arguably one of the best Serbian Sportsperson ever. His efficiency on the court and his generosity outside of it truly make him an icon for everyone.

Fellow Serbian Filip Krajinovic recently showered praises on his fellow countrymen, calling him a ‘National Hero’.

Krajinovic recently spoke with Nova S, and described his experience of facing Novak Djokovic. “It is difficult with Novak, he is a hero of the nation, an idol,” Krajinovic explained.

“But I want to win, I think I can do it. We had a very difficult match in Rome, he defeated me only after two sets, then I missed the set point in Vienna. But it is a great experience form,” he added.

Krajinovic, who is ranked at World No.31, expressed his wish of beating the Djokovic, but acknowledged at his mere presence on the court sends him on the back foot. “I hope to beat him soon,” Krajinovic added.

“But, maybe your hand is shortened in important moments when you know that the best of all time stands across the net,” he said.

Krajinovic and Djokovic have faced each other thrice, with the latter coming on top on two occasions. Krajinovic did emerge victorious against Djokovic, but his victory came courtesy of the World No.1’s mid-match retirement due to injury.

Djokovic had recently made his Novak Tennis Center available to fellow Serbian tennis players. Amongst those who used the excellent facilities at the center was Filip Krajinovic.

The 28-year old thanked Djokovic for helping his fellow Serbian mates’ practice tennis at such a great academy. “There are 15 of us on the Novak tennis courts, we are getting ready and training, we don’t know what, but we are hoping for the Australian Open,” Krajinovic continued.

“Congratulations to him for gathering the best from Serbia, and Damir Dzumhur is there. It’s nice that Nole is there too, he gives us advice, thank you for that,” Krajinovic concluded.
