In one of the most brutal match of NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day, Finn Balor retained his NXT Championship. He defeated Pete Dunne to retain his title. Balor hit a Coup de Gras followed by a 1916 to pick up the win.

Pete’s gameplan was pretty clear. He completely exploited Balor’s injuries. Dunne attacked Balor’s injured arm and jaw. This was not all, Dunne constantly attacked Balor’s fingers. Pete Dunee had broken Balor’s fingers on an earlier episode of WWE NXT.

Since Finn Balor has returned, he has been part of brutal matches one after the other. While the WWE Universe is speculating whether Edge will come after Balor for the NXT Championship, Balor has a new challenger.

As the NXT Championship match ended, Balor walked up the ramp. He was attacked by Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Pete Dunne joined them in attacking the Champion.

The Undisputed Era ran down to help Balor. They cleared the ring. As the Undisputed Era posed in the ring with Balor, Adam Cole superkicked Balor. Kyle O’Reilly confronted Cole and he was superkicked too.

Adam Cole turning heel might indicate that he is the next in line to challenge for the NXT Championship. Balor was knocked out with the superkick. The upcoming episode of WWE NXT might indicate whether Cole or Karrion Kross are going to challenge Balor.
