However they recorded their first point of the European qualifying campaign in a 1-1 draw against Armenia last time out. Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored a late first half penalty to give his side the lead. But Noah Frick scored the equaliser after a deft finish from the edge of the box. Liechtenstein are up against North Macedonia next against whom they were beaten 5-0 back in March.

North Macedonia are well poised in the group at the moment sitting in 4th place with 9 points to their name, just two points off the playoffs spot and 6 points off the leaders Germany who have 15 points so far. North Macedonia pulled off a huge upset beating 2014 World Cup winners Germany 2-1 back in April. However they’re winless in their last three games since then. North Macedonia failed to hold onto a 2-0 lead after Iceland scored 2 in the last fifteen minutes of the game. They take on Liechtenstein next and will surely want to get a win and stay in the hunt for a playoff place for next year’s World Cup.
