Who will ultimately end up replacing Dean Smith’s legacy at Villa?

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, who is currently serving as the manager of Scottish Premiership side Rangers has grown into his stature as a manager ever since joining the club. Gerrard took Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in the last season, without suffering a single defeat and has started the season impressively as well this year.

Aston Villa’s CEO, Christian Purslow is said to have been impressed with the work Gerrard has done Rangers and is keen to bring him to the club, to give him the first taste of managing a Premier League after sacking Dean Smith.

If chosen to lead the club, Gerrard would not get a better opportunity to get accustomed to being a manager in the Premier League, before taking on a bigger challenge (Liverpool job) in the future.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is also in the reckoning to take over the job at Villa

Southampton coach Ralph Hasenhuttl is also said to have a number of admirers at Villa Park and is also in the fray to join the list of candidates who can take over the job at Villa.

The Villa owners will have some time in their hands to finally make a decision, as we head into the two weeks international break after the match-day.
