Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has completed a loan move from the Premier League giants to Aston Villa. He will play the next season at the Claret and Blues in a bid to earn to more minutes under his belt.
Aston Villa is not uncharted territory for Tuanzebe who had played for them in 2019, helping the side to qualify back into the Premier League by winning the Championship. The defender would have fallen behind in the Manchester United squad this season had he stayed at the club, after the club signed Raphael Varane this summer, adding to their defensive resources.
Axel Tuanzebe was part of Aston Villa’s Championship winning side in 2019
The move to Aston Villa would serve as a great opportunity for the young 23-year old defender to gain more Premier league experience as he looks to build a case of staying at United for the years to come. He signed a new deal with the Red Devils, which would last till 2023- with the option of being extended a year further.
Manchester United’s official statement read, “Axel Tuanzebe will spend the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Aston Villa after agreeing a season-long move to the Premier League club.
“The 23-year-old has also signed a new contract at Manchester United, lasting until June 2023 with the option of an additional year’s extension. Having endured a difficult campaign last time out due to a couple of injuries, the highly-rated centre-back will use this loan as a vital opportunity to assert himself and make an impression.”
Axel will return to the United set-up at the end of the 2021-22 season.”
Axel Tuanzebe has had a largely in decent career at Old Trafford so far, making only 37 appearances in the Premier League after joining the senior team in 2015. He will look to pounce on this opportunity and show Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that he deserves a chance to prove himself at United in the following seasons.
