Deepak made 17 appearance for his former club Chennaiyin in last season’s HERO Indian Super League and excelled playing as a defensive midfielder. ATKMB coach Antonio Lopez Habas was said to have liked his style of play and urged the club to sign the player this season.

Playing for the U-17 Mohun Bagan side during his initial years, he became an instant hero at the club after scoring in the local derby match for his age group against East Bengal. Deepak had scored the winning goal against the Red and Gold brigade.

The 22-year old defensive midfielder has also represented India at the U-20 level and is now all set to return to his home club in Kolkata. Deepak Tangri has made a total of 51 appearances at the senior level and will hope to add to his tally for ATK Mohun Bagan.

ATK Mohun Bagan have made a number of signings so far including the likes of Finnish midfielder Jonny Kauko, goalkeeper Amrinder Singh and now Deepak to boost their squad ahead of the new ISL season.
