Chelsea set to offer Thiago Silva a new two-year deal to keep the defender at the club until 2023

The 37 year-old Brazilian defender is set to sign a a new two-year extension with the club.

Chelsea are in the works and are preparing a contract extension for the ever so reliable Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva. Silva made the move to Stamford Bridge last season for free after his contract at Paris Saint-Germain had run it’s due course.

It is always a slight hint of doubt if any player would succeed at Premier League football given the playing style of it. Thiago Silva at 37 years old certainly had alot to prove and the Brazilian has made an exceptional start to his life at Chelsea winning the Champions League last season.Thomas Tuchel and the members at Chelsea are ‘super happy’ with the defensive performances of Thiago Silva. It is no surprise that he is set to stay with the West London outfit for two more years. Silva has been an integral part and ‘heart’ of defence alongside Antonio Rudiger since Thomas Tuchel took charge in January 2020.

Reports suggest that it is just a ‘matter of time’ that the Brazilian signs a two year extension deal. Thiago Silva staying for two more years will help Chelsea giving them enough time to find a replacement for the 37 year old. Also with the uncertainty over the future of Antonio Rudiger. If the German international is to leave at the end of the season at Chelsea will have Thiago Silva’s experience and composure. His was amongst the goals in their 3-2 loss against West Ham United. He also made a goal-line clearance in that game.

Jorginho celebrating against Leeds United

Chelsea just about kept the pace in the three horse Premier League title race this season after a narrow 3-2 win against Leeds United. It was Raphinha who opened the scoring for Bielsa’s side. However man in form Mason Mount equalised with a deft finish at Meslier’s near post. However a brace from the penalty spot from Jorginho gave Chelsea the victory in the end.

It is now 8 goals conceded in the last 3 games in all competitions for Thomas Tuchel’s side. As many as they did in their last 13 games.
