Watford have announced the appointment of Claudio Ranieri as their new manager to replace Xisco Munoz at the helm. The Italian manager has signed a two year contract with the club, as they look to bring their Premier League campaign back on track.

The Hornets are currently 15th in the league table, after making a return to the Premier League this season and have just managed to pick up 7 points from their first seven matches. Xisco Munoz became the 17th manager to be sacked, after last week’s defeat against Leeds United in the last decade.

The new job will be Ranieri’s fourth club in the Premier League after his stints with Chelsea, Leicester City and Fulham. He reached the pinnacle of his career with Leicester City as he helped the Foxes win the Premier League in 2015-16.

However, his final stint with Fulham did not yield the best of results for the experienced manager as he managed only 3 victories from 17 matches in charge, and was eventually sacked by the club.

The Hornets authorites confirmed, that Ranieri will be joined by assistant coaches Paolo Benetti and Carlo Cornacchia, as well as fitness coach Carlo Spignoli. The new manager will have two weeks to prepare and get accustomed with his new players during the international break.
