In a rematch of the Copa America finals of the previous edition, tournament hosts Brazil are up against Peru in the first semi-final of this year. Brazil have been the team to beat throughout the tournament and are still unbeaten after playing 5 matches. They had previously faced Peru in the group-B fixture and the Selecaos emerged 4-0 victorious in that particular match. Coach Tite would be without Gabriel Jesus who picked up a red card in the previous encounter against Chile.

However, the stakes of playing in a group match and a semi-final are definitely not the same, and Peru have improved their football as the tournament has progressed into the latter stages. They finished second in their group behind winners Brazil with a total of 7 points and won their quarter final tie against Paraguay on 4-3 on penalties after the match finished 3-3 for both sides at the end of 90 minutes. Peru would be out for revenge for their Copa America final defeat last year.

Who will win Brazil vs Peru Match

Brazil definitely start as favourites for the semi-finals clash and have the mental edge over their rivals having already defeated them earlier in the tournament. But Tite’s side need to be careful that they do not allow any sort of complacency affect them for the crucial tie.

Both teams would be aware of maintaining discipline throughout the match, something which has been lacking in general in the South American tournament so far. No team would want to be playing a match of this nature with a disadvantage, but Peru’s best bet of winning this tie would be to break the play as and when possible to disturb the momentum of the free-flowing Brazilian stars.
