1. La Liga 2013/14 season

The first 2 meetings came in the 2013/14 season when FC Barcelona won both the games against Real Madrid in the Spanish League. Neymar was the best performer on the pitch in his debut El Clasico when FC Barcelona won the game 2-1.

The Brazilian scored a goal and his team went to win the first of the 2 matches that season. In the second round of the fixture, it was Ronaldo who scored for his club Real Madrid but was on the losing side as FC Barcelona beat the Los Blancos 4-3.

Both the players performed well in their first season against each other. Neymar and Ronaldo both scored a goal for their respective teams in that season.

2. La Liga 2014/15 season

In this season, FC Barcelona dominated the La Liga as well as the UEFA Champions League by winning both the competitions. However, Cristiano Ronaldo dominated both the games that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid played against each other.

The Portuguese international scored in both round of fixtures that season and was also a contender for the Man of the Match award in one of the games. However, Neymar also scored a goal that season against Ronaldo’s team in the 3-1 defeat. He was one of the only standout players for his side in that defeat.

Ronaldo totally eclipsed Neymar in this season and was better than the Brazilian international in terms of performance and output when the 2 players played against each other.

3. La Liga 2015/16 season

The 2 stars locked horns again in the Spanish League with Neymar Jr’s team FC Barcelona winning the first round 4-0 away from home. Neymar produced a Man of the Match display that game after scoring a goal and having a fantastic game.

However, in the return fixture, Cristiano Ronaldo and his team Real Madrid won the game 2-1 with the Portuguese international scoring 1 goal and being awarded the Man of the Match. Ronaldo was brilliant throughout the game and helped the team in defending and linking up plays.

Both the stars played against each other twice that season and both scored a goal each and put in a brilliant performance in one of the games.

4. La Liga 2016/17 season

Cristiano Ronaldo faced Neymar Jr just once that season in the 1-1 draw on Matchday 14. Both the players failed to shine as they were expected to in the game and were relatively quiet the whole game as compared to their teammates.

The fixture was a stalemate as compared to previous seasons in regards to the performances of Neymar and Ronaldo. However, Neymar provided an assist for Luiz Suarez to help his team lead 1-0 in the 2nd half before Real Madrid equalised in the dying moments of the game.

Both Neymar and Ronaldo did not perform as well as expected but a crucial goal involvement for Neymar proved to be vital and favoured the Brazilian’s performance over Ronaldo.

5. 2017/18 UEFA Champions League

After completing his expensive move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017, Neymar Jr faced Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid in the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

The game was won 3-1 by Real Madrid thanks to 2 brilliant goals by Ronaldo as he produced one of his best performances for the Los Blancos in the Champions League. His team also went on to win the tournament that year and Ronaldo was awarded the Player of the Tournament.

However, Neymar failed to impress in this fixture and didn’t have a great game. Ronaldo was surely the standout player that season.
