Crystal Palace keen to sign Eddie Nketiah

Crystal Palace FC top hierarchy is showing interest in Arsenal FC player Eddie Nketiah and is preparing to buy the striker for a sum of 10 million pounds. The striker is in the last year of his contract but it’s not clear whether he could be a part of the team which makes this episode even more interesting. According to a source, the gunners had enticed the 23-year-old to extend his stay but Nketiah turned down the offer and there is a possibility he could shift his base at the earliest.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and the club bosses have made some crucial signings ahead of this season and will try their best to keep the striker. Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira is also keen to get this breakthrough but Arsenal higher-ups aren’t ready to give up anything less than 20 million pounds. All eyes will be on Arsenal and it would be interesting to see whether the club wants to sell the player or not. Nketiah can sign a fresh agreement with any other club in January and would be able to leave the club in 12 months for free.

Nketiah is out of action so far this season due to an ankle injury and Mikel Arteta is feeling the heat as two of his best players- Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are also not playing due to Covid 19. Arteta and the team management have opted for Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli simultaneously at the front in Nketiah’s place but the duo hasn’t performed to their expectations.

With Sead Kolasinac leaving Arsenal for Fenerbahce and Lucas Torriera along with Willian about to leave, Arsenal club bosses need to add more quality who could provide productivity in the long run. Hector Bellerin is another player who is ready to make a move.

How would Crystal Palace benefit from Eddie Nketiah’s arrival?

The striker is known for his ability to run through the opposition with a combination of pace and creative awareness. Nketiah is known to move deep and attack from wider positions with his clever awareness and quick footwork. The 23-year-old can build attacks with his well-coordinated teamwork and link-ups with the midfield.

Nketiah’s strengths lie in his raw pace and his ability to score from difficult positions which can take the opposition by surprise. The England International has got enough time to develop himself and getting enough game time would help him grow tactically.

His combination with Wilfred Zaha and Christian Benteke at the front would be crucial and his combination with midfielder James Mc Arthur would add cohesion while building attacks from the centre. It isn’t a surprise the Eagles are chasing him because of the quality he could add at the front and if the deal is successful Crystal Palace could gain the reputation of giant killers.
