Harry Kane was appointed as captain by Gareth Southgate ahead of the 2018 World Cup, after establishing himself as a key member of the squad both on and off the field. He led them to a semi-final finish and also won the Golden Boot, finish the tournament with six goals (the highest).

The Three Lions captain is a powerful all-rounder with a great work ethic and can play with either foot and is good aerially, as well as capable of holding the ball up and bringing others into action.

The Tottenham Striker has expressed an open ambition to become England’s all-time leading goal scorer before the end of his career. Harry Kane has 34 goals in 53 senior appearances for his nation, behind only Wayne Rooney on the all-time list by 19 goals.

The Spurs have used Wembley as their home base on and off in recent years, so Kane has more familiarity playing at England’s national stadium than most. This brings England among the top contenders to win the tournament, as Wembley Stadium will host the semi-finals and Finals of the Euro 2020.
