Pau Lopez hopes to make an impact in the French league

Lopez ends his Roman adventure after 2 seasons over which he made 76 appearances. Lopez lacked consistency in his stint at AS Roma and his formed varied greatly and he failed to provide security to the Italian side that desperately needed Champions League football. The Spaniard was injured in an Europa League clash against Manchester United last season for which he needed a surgery and he will be hoping he makes an impact for the French side this season coming off from this injury.

He had joined AS Roma from Real Betis in 2019 for a fee of 23.5 million Euros, but failed to deliver properly at the Stadio Olympico. He had earlier played for Espanyol and was on loan to Tottenham too.
Olympique Marseille will be hoping that Lopez can fill the shoes of Steve Mandanda who has been at the club for four years but is 36 years old now. He is not the only one to make this move as Lopez becomes the second loan arrival from Roma to Marseille after Cengiz Under earlier joined Jorge Sampaoli’s side.

Marseille’s coach Jorge Sampaoli is reshaping his squad having already added names like Gerson, Konard De La Fuente and Matteo Guendouzi.
