Real Madrid's star forward Vinicius Junior had to endure racist remarks from Barcelona fans in last week's El Claisco at the Camp Nou.

La Liga denounce racist attacks on Vinicius

Real Madrid came out with a 2-1 victory against FC Barcelona in this season’s first El Clasico last week. However, Barcelona would be more disappointed with what happened off the pitch, more than their loss.

The Camp Nou fans disappointed with their behaviour as they directed racist abuse towards Real Madrid’s young forward Vinicius junior. The Brazilian winger was booed off every time he touched the ball and also endured abuse from sections of the Camp Nou crowd while he was going off the pitch towards the fag end of the match.

La Liga have now released an announcement where they denounced the racist abuse directed at Vinicius after an official complaint was filed with the Spanish league by Real Madrid.

The statement by LaLiga, “Given the events that occurred during the game at the Camp Nou on Sunday, in which a home fan abused Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr with racist insults, LaLiga will proceed to report said events to the prosecutor’s office of Barcelona.”

There was video footage of the abuse from the broadcasters as well which helped La Liga track down the incident, as the Barcelona fans continued with their “monkey” chants on the young Brazilian forward.

Real Madrid however, continued their merry way in El Clasico’s as they picked up their fourth consecutive win over their rivals Barcelona for the first time since 1965.
