Liverpool will face off Manchester United on Sunday, 24th October at Old Trafford in the Matchday 9 of the English Premier League 2021/22 season. They have been brilliant this season winning five of their eights games and are yet to suffer a defeat.
Liverpool stands third in the points table with their last Premier League win coming over Watford 5-0. They are in exceptional form and come into this game on the back of a 3-2 victory over the defending La Liga champions Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. The Reds will be eyeing to put up another dominant performance against Manchester United and solidify their position in the top three.
On that note, let’s take a look at how Jurgen Klopp will make the Liverpool lineup vs Manchester United.
Liverpool lineup vs Manchester United
Alisson didn’t feature in Liverpool’s previous Premier League game against Watford due to international duty but played a significant role in their triumph over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. He is a sure-shot starter for the goalkeeper position and is expected to continue his dominance in this game.
Trent Alexander Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip, Andrew Robertson
Liverpool are expected to continue with their quartet of Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, and Robertson. They have been brilliant so far in the season and once again, at the core of Liverpool’s defensive line, Matip will retain to establish a center-back combination with Virgil van Dijk.
Arnold will slot in as the right-back while Robertson is a sure starting at left wing-back. They’ll be required to extend their team’s attack into the opposing half.
Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita
Liverpool have James Milner and Curtis Jones available to slot in at the midfield. However, Keita netted a brilliant goal against Atletico Madrid and is expected to retain his position as central midfielder alongside Henderson, who has been a workforce for the Reds. Henderson has featured in almost all of Liverpool’s 11 games this season and has performed brilliantly.
Also, Fabinho is expected to return in the starting lineup after missing out against Watford due to international commitments. He appeared at half-time against Atletico but will most probably start in this game.
Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino
Firmino has been on and off this season often losing his place to Diago Jota but after his brilliant hat-trick against Watford, he is likely to start as a striker in this game for Liverpool. Mane, on the other hand, will take command of the left-wing position and is expected to continue his decent form in this game.
He has five goals in eight PL games and will offer a hand to their star striker Salah, who is in his dream form. Salah has now scored in nine consecutive games across all competitions for Liverpool and is anticipated to deliver once again.
