Real Madrid veteran Luka Modric, has hailed the return of Carlo Ancelotti as Los Blancos manager for the coming season. The Italian was rea-appointed as Real Madrid boss after Zidane left the club after a trophyless 2020-21 season.

The duo- Luka Modric and Ancelotti were previously part of the Los Blancos squad which lifted the Champions League trophy in 2014. The Croatian midfielder, who just recently returned to Madrid after an extended vacation following the completion of EURO 2020 was visibly excited at the prospect of working once again with Carlo Ancelotti.

Luka Modric has been one of the best players for Real Madrid since his arrival in 2012, and will enter his 10th season as a Los Blancos players this year. And the midfielder hopes to recreate the success Ancelotti had in his first spell at the club in the coming season.

“I am very happy to see the coach again after a few years. It’s a tremendous joy.” He is a great coach who had many successes in his first spell here and I hope he will also have them on his return”, a delighted Luka Modric said on Carlo Ancelotti’s return to Los Blancos.

Modric also spoke on the fact that even though this is his 10th season at the club, he still returns to the first training session of the season with great enthusiasm and joy.

He said, “I’m still very excited, almost as much as I was on my first day. I’m happy to see my teammates again and I’m eager to work, prepare and to help the team to do well. The first sessions were good. I’m happy to be back. I’ve come back with a lot of enthusiasm and I want to work to do well this season.”

Luka Modric will be expected to take the role of a leader this season under Ancelotti, as he is one of the senior-most players in the squad following the departure of club captain Sergio Ramos.
