Leeds United have had a great season after reaching the Premier League after 16 years as they grabbed a 9th finish on the final match-day of the season. One of the key components for Leeds’ recent revival has been their manager Marcelo Bielsa who has taken the side to another level in his 3 years’ tenure at the club.

Bielsa has now announced, that he would remain at the club for another year, putting an end to speculation over his future. Bielsa’s current contract expires this summer and he has agreed in principle a 12-month deal for the next campaign.

Leeds have displayed some of their best football in the final stretch of the season notching up 3 consecutive wins in their previous 3 game. And with fans back in the stadiums, Marcelo Bielsa’s side made sure of living up to the expectations and delivered yet another victory over West Bromwich Albion.

Rodrigo, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford all netted in front of the 8000 odd supporters at Elland Road, giving their manager a perfect evening’s outing to cap off what has been an incredible season.

This victory, a comfortable dispatch of already-relegated West Brom, ensured a ninth-placed finish for Leeds, their highest since the 2001-02 season. A happy Marcelo Bielsa, put an end to speculations concerning his future at the club in his post-match press conference.

Somewhat cryptically, he replied: “Everything Leeds offers a manager exceeds their expectations. I have a lot of gratitude for the moments I’ve been here and I’m very grateful. As soon as it’s resolved the club will announce it.”

Terms have never been an issue for Bielsa and he has not been motivated by money during his three years at Leeds. He has always been more concerned with the set-up behind the scenes at Thorp Arch and ensuring everyone remains on the same page to allow the club to continue to progress.

All of this has come to good use for Leeds, who are set to continue for a fourth year running with one of the best managers going around the Premier League in Marcelo Bielsa.
