Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Manchester United has been questioned in recent days, with Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs linked to the 37-year-old.

PSG has been mentioned as a possible destination for Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo. The 37-year-old is reportedly reconsidering his future at Old Trafford and is open to playing alongside Lionel Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo could team up with Messi at PSG after handing in a transfer request and telling Manchester United that he wants to leave before the end of the summer transfer window.

According to The Independent, while PSG is looking to offload Neymar this summer, Ronaldo would like to try Ligue 1, a competition in which he has never competed. In the event of a transfer, Lionel Messi, his long-time rival would be his teammate in the French capital.

Although it would be interesting to see the two players play together, it would contradict the capital club’s new strategy of avoiding star players who would draw attention and advertisers to the French giants.

PSG wants to build a team that can play as a unit and win the UEFA Champions League, even if that means acquiring players with little name recognition. Furthermore, transfer window expert Fabrizio Romano cast doubt on the Brazilian Neymar leaving this summer amid rumours of a departure.

“At the moment, Neymar’s situation is full of rumors, but there is no offer,” Romano writes. “Those close to Neymar ensure that his will is to stay at Paris Saint-Germain to win the Champions League in France.”

“So far, there have been no advanced negotiations, and I think it should be remembered that Neymar signed a new contract with PSG just a year ago with a huge salary. It will be a difficult negotiation for everyone; this scenario could change only in case of salary coverage beyond 50% by Paris.”

If PSG are unable to offload Neymar out the door, it is highly unlike the Parisians would be able to complete the auspicious signing of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
