According to a report, Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United for the second time. Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last year after a stellar 12-year career with Real Madrid and Juventus. Despite scoring 24 goals in all competitions, the veteran striker’s homecoming campaign did not go exactly as planned.

United finished sixth in the Premier League, their fifth consecutive season without a trophy and with the fewest points in the Premier League era. Ronaldo, who won three league titles and the Champions League during his first stint at United, has been linked with a move away from the club in the past.

According to The Times, the 37-year-old has now asked United for permission to leave if they receive a “satisfactory offer.” According to the report, Ronaldo wants to spend his final years in the Champions League, with United having to settle for Europa League football in 2022-23.

United are expected to sign their first player under Erik ten Hag in the coming days, with Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia set to join. According to media reports, the club is also in negotiations with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirms the reports and names Napoli as a club interested in signing him. Paris Saint-Germain are said to be uninterested at the moment, while his agent Jorge Mendes has informed Bayern Munich of his availability.

It would be a shame if Ronaldo left the club after only one season, especially given United’s lack of ambition in the transfer window. United would need to change their transfer plans quickly and focus on acquiring a striker.
