Cristiano Ronaldo “would not fit into Bayern Munich’s philosophy,” says club’s CEO amidst transfer rumors

Oliver Kahn shuts down Cristiano Ronaldo’s dream move to Bayern Munich.

Cristiano Ronaldo has never before been in this position. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner wants to leave Manchester United this summer, but none of his preferred destinations want him. His agent, Jorge Mendes, has made offers to Bayern Munich and Chelsea, but interest has been lukewarm at best.

According to reports, the Portuguese superstar wishes to join a club capable of competing in the Champions League, and Bayern fits the bill. The Bavarians have been mentioned as his preferred destination for several weeks now, thanks to the efforts of his agent. According to Fabrizio Romano, Jorge Mendes is “pushing hard” for his client’s transfer to Germany. However, the interest doesn’t seem mutual.

With Robert Lewandowski reportedly interested in joining FC Barcelona this summer, it has been suggested that the Bavarians could sign CR7 and give him a leading role in the team. However, that speculation is limited to the media, there has been no concrete evidence that Bayern would consider a move for the 37-year-old. Even so, it hasn’t stopped fans from fantasizing.

Now, club CEO Oliver Kahn has publicly stated that Ronaldo will not be moving to Bayern Munich. Here’s what former goalkeeper kicker had to say about the situation, “As much as I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest, a move would not fit into our philosophy”

While there have been reports that CR7 would accept a wage cut to play in the Champions League next season, Bayern Munich do not believe he is a good fit for the team Julian Nagelsmann is attempting to build.

Director Hasan Salihamidzic had also denied the rumours regarding Bayern Munich’s interest in the Portuguese saying “Cristiano Ronaldo is a top player with an outstanding career. However, stories on potential deal with Bayern are NOT true.” With Manchester United finishing 6th in the Premier League and into the Europa League, most expected Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club in search of Champions League football.

Last season, Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the only stand-out performers for Manchester United. The Portuguese scored 24 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions while also providing 3 assists. He also won Manchester United’s player of the season award.
