Gerard Pique could agree to a pay cut, in which case he would essentially not be paid for the entire 2022–2023 campaign.

According to the reports, Gerard Pique has told Barcelona that he is prepared to ‘dramatically cut’ his wage to assist in the registration of their new summer recruits. It has been reported that his cut might be so severe that he will essentially not get paid for the upcoming season. However, Pique would be paid for the 2023–24 season, which will be the last year of his contract. It’s not the first time he’s done it; he did it last season to help Barcelona sign Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay, and Eric Garcia.

The Barcelona giants believe they will be able to register big summer signings Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen, and Franck Kessie as a result of Pique’s gesture. Prior to playing Raya Vallecano on Saturday in their opening game of the season, Barca’s severe financial situation persisted.

Barcelona will be able to sign every player

Gerard Pique’s second pay cut makes him play for Barcelona at almost free of cost: Reports 2

If Barcelona signs a fourth financial lever and Gerard Pique accepts to a pay decrease, they will be able to sign all of their players, including the five summer acquisitions. A fourth economic lever, according to Gerard Romero, and club legend Pique cutting his pay will enable them to recruit the five new players.

Last August, Pique took a “significant” wage cut to assist Barcelona in signing Eric Garcia, Rey Manaj, and Memphis Depay. In order to demonstrate that he had truly accepted a pay cut, the 35-year-old posted a picture of a bank statement in January. Pique was reportedly still making up to $500,000 per year in Spain, although this was later disproved.

According to reports, Barcelona is putting pressure on several players to leave, and Frenkie de Jong is one of the well-known players. Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in the Netherlands international, but he prefers to stay at Camp Nou. Additionally, Martin Braithwaite is asking for full payment for the remaining two years of his contract before leaving.
