“I see my friends here.. winning the big trophies,” – England’s Declan Rice wants West Ham exit to compete in the Champions League with more ‘ambitious’ clubs

Declan Rice said that he wants to play in and win the UEFA Champions League, effectively confirming that he wants to leave West Ham. Rice has long been one of the Premier League’s top midfield performers, and it is commonly believed that he will leave West Ham for one of the top English teams.

He was heavily linked to Manchester United and Chelsea in the summer, leading many to believe he would move, but he finally stayed put. After confessing to the press in Qatar that he wants to fight for the Champions League like his England teammates, it is now all but likely that, whenever the opportunity arises, he will say goodbye to West Ham.

“I see my friends here, who are playing Champions League, winning the big trophies,” he said. “You only get one career. At the end of your career, you want to look back at what you’ve won and the biggest games you’ve played in. I’m really ambitious, and I really want to do that.'”

Declan Rice is England’s most coveted midfielder in the Premier League

England's Declan Rice has spoken about competing at a higher level

With West Ham sitting 16th in the Premier League and in no position to make the Champions League, his departure looks all but guaranteed. Thanks to his impressive performances with the Three Lions and West Ham, Declan Rice has recently established himself as England’s best midfielder.

His popularity has grown to the extent that Hammers manager David Moyes once set a minimum asking price of £150 million to lure Rice away from the London Stadium. That’s a lofty asking price, but the Scotsman stated that the club was not interested in selling the former Chelsea prodigy.

The good news for the club is that Rice’s stellar World Cup exploits for England should at least enable them to demand a hefty fee for his services. Rice is reportedly Chelsea’s top midfield target for 2023, but reports that Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United are also understood to be interested in the 23-year-old.
